Granny’s suitcase, pictured, was used for all her Greyhound Bus travels. The oil lamp is reminiscent of the one’s Naomi’s family used when the power went out at their home due to bad weather. One of the ways they passed that time was to light the lamp and use a battery powered radio to tune into the Grand Ole Opry.
This finger labyrinth was created by Naomi following directions from her friend, Sheree Sloop, a trained Labyrinth Facilitator.
This quilted wall hanging titled, Going Home, is a familiar mountain scene that was designed and created by Naomi.
This layered accordion book titled, Letting Go, was made by Naomi based on a Vintage Page Designs’ tutorial. She used both store-bought papers and papers that she gelli-printed. She made a matching box . The set was shipped to Kalamazoo Book Arts Center in Michigan. It was displayed in person and online in the Illustrated Accordion Exhibition, January 2022.
Naomi remembers making books in second grade. She returned to this activity during the pandemic. The bindings pictured here are the coptic stitch, expandable mixed media journal, decorated long-stitch, chain stitch binding, and holiday bow binding. The covers vary from book board, heavy paper, and leather. The directions were given by Vintage Page Designs.
