Begin our time together with a creative activity then write from prompts, inspired by poetry and everyday life. Sharing of writings takes place along with a snack break. Leave feeling inspired to continue writing and refreshed from our time together.
Naomi facilitates the group in recalling their own memories. There will be time to share with partners or the larger group depending on the number of participants. Leave with stories to share with family and friends.
In this workshop we discuss the difference in story and sermon, work with sensory details, practice short writings and delivering those writings in oral story form. Inspiration for these shared stories will come from different sources such as common experiences, biblical characters and Bible passages. Expect individual, group and partner work in a safe space. Leave ready to meaningfully incorporate stories with sermons.
Contact Naomi at naomifawstoryteller@gmail.com to discuss the workshop you have in mind for your group or organization.
I never considered myself very creative, but I have a very active mind and spilling the noise onto paper is calming. When Naomi formed the writing group, Pondering the Ordinary, I was thrilled to join and never intimidated by the group. I did receive good feedback from the group, but more importantly I always felt heard, which inspired me to write more! - Dr. Sharilyn Owens, Dean of Transformative Learning at Forsyth Tech
